Drawing in front of a work of art allows you to express yourself with immediacy and spontaneity,
and to discover something more in the picture in front of you.

The important thing isn't producing a beautiful drawing but using the creative process to gather
information and to explore details of the subject matter that often escape an initial, cursory examination.


For this reason Palazzo Strozzi proposes a  short, practical manual for all those who wish to visit the exhibition,
to look at the paintings in an original way, and—why not?—to give their own creativity free rein.

The manual, composed of easy-to-consult cards, has quick tips to break the ice, a few instructions
on drawing tecniques, and a guided exercise in front of a work of art in the exhibition.

 

The manual has been created both for people with no previous experience of drawing and for those
among you who are already experienced.

You'll find suggestions and a few examples to guide you in drawing in front of a work of art
by important artists.
